Bid on and won a significant 14th century English gold coin, soon to be my new oldest British gold coin. And a beaut at that.

Georgian GoldInteresting, just wish these were a bit easier to get, wouldn't mind getting the oz and fractionals for my collection. Georgia is just NOT one of those places I exactly trust sending money to. I am going to try ti to find some Ukrainian gold in a couple of months if I go.

The writing looks like chicken scratch to me, at least I can read Greek since it is the root of Cyrillic. But you would settle for the 10 Oz coin? They have a 1 kilogramme coin that is more desirous IMHO.

I can read greek because all the lettres are used in higher matematics but that does not mean I understand a word of what I can read I never had a coin bigger then 102 grams and at the going prices that probably will stay my biggest coin I ever had

Oh you are right I was thinking gold only 6 years back I bought some heavy silver but my old scanner refused to focus thru the capsule so they are gone without scan . Anyways they may have had legal tender in Australia but a on kilo coin is not a coin in my mind . It is only a coin in the legal sense that I pay 8% sales tax versus 18% sales tax on a bar

Last night I bought two 20 FF coins, one an 1808-A with Napoleon, the other with Marianne and dated 1904, I couldn't resist at buying them both for about 2.5% over melt from a well known dealer. The Napoleon has a scrape, but... it is a 200 year old gold coin
