Anyone heard from Bigfella lately. I am trying to locate some 2009 silver Koala's both in the full ounce and half ounce size. Got to keep the old Koala herd growing! Been a while since I last heard from him.

I was wondering the same thing just yesterday.

There are several members who go back a long ways, and we haven't heard from them lately.  Scoutjim and Mila are just two examples.

It would be nice to hear from these members.

He is still there because I spoke to him on the phone just this week as I organised some things for myself. Cheers.

Well I heard from Bigfella concerning the 2009 silver Koala's I am seeking. Seems the Perth Mint has shut down silver sales until February or possibly March. Seems the governments are waiting for silver prices to come back up, which they won't admit, but if they purchased bulk silver while it was still very high I guess I can't blame them much.
I did locate one and ONLY one half ounce silver Koala on Australian Ebay. Paid dearly but I got it so that one is out of the way after the Aussie Turtle service finally gets it up here. Did any of you Aussies manage to land any full ounce silver Koala's before the mint halted production, or should I say, sales? I might add, I find it rather odd, that dealers here in the U.S. seem to have plenty of them at this time? Who knows, maybe they just don't sell as quickly over here or maybe the Aussie mint is, for some unknown reason, taking care of the dealers over here? Something to ponder I reckon! Either way I GOT to get my KOALA fix and soon!!! Withdrawal is a terrible thing!

I don't collect Koalas, so I haven't got any. I have the latest November catalog from the Perth Mint and according to that, the 1oz Koala is mint to order for the next 12 months. AUD$35 plus delivery. If you like I can order one for you.

You might give it a shot and see if you have any luck Triggersmob. Bigfella seemed to think he whole program was frozen until early 2009 but that may be for larger dealer orders? Let me know what you find out and we can go from there. Thanks for the offer.

Well my withdrawal grew too strong and I went hog wild today. Found a U.S. dealer with 2009 Koala's on hand who would ship for free. Got 3 of them coming! As I said, I got the 1/2 ounce Koala on Australian Ebay this week but I did NOT stop there! Purchased two Chinese Panda's (2008) on Ebay today for the best price I had ever received on them. Still on a roll here.....Got into my truck and drove to Columbus to see if my dealer had any silver Eagles left! Grabbed 6 older Eagles and 5 of the 2008's that were left! And, if that wasn't enough, I found out the battery on one of my RC planes had been punctured by a screw so off to the hobby shop I went! My little boy got his first experience racing a remote control car (believe he is hooked now) and I got a new $65.00 battery. WOW what a day my wallet had and NOW my little one wants to join a remote control racing league which runs every Saturday night? Does anyone have a cure for this disease? Roll Eyes

Yeah. Bad day for the wallet. Sounds like a good one for you and your son though. I've seen the 2008 eagles going for some outrageous prices.

I guess that means you don't need me to order one for you then?
Just as well I couldn't remember my password, when I went to
the Perth Mint website last night.  Smiley

Triggersmob you sound like me now!!! If I don't write passwords down they are gone forever. I appreciate your help and will keep you in mind AFTER I see these new 2009 Koala's as I tend to have a herd mentality when it comes to some of my favorites. Will let you know, one way or another, as another Koala may not be out of the question. Hopefully there will be something you need in the future from this part of the world and I can return the favor.
