There is a current model of the 2009 medallion available for viewing now. See D. Carr's most recent posting. Looks like the world is about to get a DRAGON medallion!!! ;D  But only KOTCT Knights and Knightesses will actually hold them! ;)

With all the issues with my parents over past 4 months, I haven't been very active here or got around to order any Medallions.

If it is not too late Nancy, I would like to order, One silver Satin and One Silver Proof. I think this was what I ordered last time.

Is it possible to let me know how much I need to pay and how best to make that payment? Sorry to be such a burden but I am really in the dark here. So many little things have been missed over past months.

Thanks
Wayne

Just a reminder to everyone that if you use paypal then please select the gift option. its on the payment page under the personal tab, that way there will be no fees for KOTCT to receive the funds.

Twoshadows I need the Paypal address please PM me..

Title: Re: 2009 Medallion orders placed so far:
Post by: Twoshadows on February 13, 2010, 08:46:57 PM
AdamL I don't know what you ordered, without looking, but I can remind everyone of two things. Shipping is the same for everyone regardless where you live and please keep in mind PAYPAL will charge a fee on my end so always add a little extra to keep them happy.

My hopes at this time, should we come out ahead on this quest, would be to adjust the price of the 2010 medallions DOWNWARD but keep in mind the 2010 medallions later this year will probably be completely new designs as requested by D. Carr. I have also mentioned in an earlier email to Daniel what the possibility would be to use HIS Moonlight Mint obverse engraving for our 2010 reverse? This would forever tie our forum to his business and show our appreciation for what he has done for us. Also the design with the old Denver coin press and the moon in the background is another outstanding example of Daniels work. I am hoping such an arrangement can be made which would benefit our end as well as Daniel's end. Perhaps we can give Daniel the opportunity to sell them on his end as well seeing how it would be a joint venture? This would give both the Moonlight Mint and the Knights of the Coin Table exposure in areas where we have never been heard of? Just a little something for us to consider as personally I like the idea.

Post by: TKO on February 13, 2010, 11:38:15 PM
I like the idea of using the Moonlight Mint logo as a reverse. My only suggestion is to place something on the obverse of the 2010 Medallion that refers to the holder as a KOTCT Member. Hat pins, t-shirts, patches and etc. just doesn't strike me like a "one of a kind" Members Medallion. The kind of coin you would carry and use for a conversation piece. Tell others about the group and how you conversation piece came to be.

Just venting...

I don't seem to be able to locate the postage cost per medal ?
Can someone tell me ?

The winners of the august contest I held where Nevol and Longnine and the money
was sent to Merlin at the time each for 50 dollars .

This time I will be buying three silver proofs and give two away in
another contest before mailing is done.
The contest is simple . Guess a date . I will open this under contests
( I will be paying Merlin 40 dollars plus paypal cost plus three times shipping)

After doing some checking it is apparent I failed to mention shipping charges this year. Let's just go with $5.00 and hope all works out. That will cover shipping in the U.S. if we go first class mail and the extra accumulated from U.S. members should help cover extra costs for over seas shipments. Thats the way we have done it in the past and I see no reason to continue with EVERYONE pays the exact same shipping costs. PLEASE make an effort to remember the shipping charge but should you forget I am hoping the increase in price per medallion will safely take us home! And, in the end, should there be anything left over it will be held in the KOTCT Treasury for our next quest!

Better still if there's an abbreviated version.

As nohope pointed out, if you're using PayPal, there is a way to avoid KOTCT having to wear the Paypal fees. If you choose "gift" in the payment box on the Personal TAB, you are electing to pay the fees yourself.

But have you seen Daniel Carr's rendition of the MoonLight Mint? Not to mention a cost savings to all involved by using an engraving that I assume would be readily available. ;)

Well I am not actually wearing any PayPal fees! I just look at it as a fee to do business over the internet and quite honestly it is US is wearing the fees. The results in my mind are well worth the cost as medallions last forever! ;)

When I paid via PayPal last night, the thing charged me $25 for shipping.  Is that normal, or was that just to cover the costs of PayPal's fees?

If you sent it as a gift you were ripped off by paypal
My fees for a 126 dollar gift starting from euro were 5.25 euro
that includes the using paypal like 3.5 % plus the fixed fee like .5 euro plus
the conversion from euro to dollars like 1 to 2 % depending who is in between , between
collecting fees
All in all like more then 2 years intrest on the money in one second

Sorry about the glitch! We worked on the bug for quite some time with little luck so I would suggest EVERYONE use my PAYPAL address if you are buying multiple medallions. ElleKitty I have already email you so check your mail.

Yes PYW we pay interest, more interest and then we can't forget hidden taxes on top of hidden taxes. I might point out those taxes are illegal in this country but someone in Washinton, years ago, forgot all about that. Products are taxed before they leave the factory, taxed at the middle man and more taxes on the store shelves. All in the name of what? I am sure it not anything good! And then to add insult to injury they beg us to save so they can tax us on our money that has already been taxed when we earned it? Seems to me we are fighting a losing battle as the monsters we call government are out of control, right along with their spending programs that for the most part benefit whom? :'( The reason our governments are into everything is the mere fact it makes it impossible for taxpayers to track the money! Let the corruption begin!

Using the gift option the sender pays all sending and exchange costs
so the person receiving the money gets the intended amount of money

I most definitely intend to do just that as soon as Knightess #1 turns her back on my business!!! She watches me like a starving hawk in the dead of winter!!! ;D

The wife of knight 007 got a complaint from the renting neighbors that her bathwater effluent stinks
I took the telephone and the second level neighbor which is the father in law of the owner said the ground floor neighbor had a stink problem and when I was going to fix that ? Now he has been on social security and not worked a day in like 15 years
So I told I told the father in law tonight at witching hour something would come
and fix it ; which the stupid fµ^^ck did not understand
My wife took the telephone and better then the best politician I ever heard made all
kind of promisses she was gone fix it ASAP
So I told her on a Sunday that was going to be 1000 euro out of her own savings ; and
suddenly she had no more intentions to fix it in a hurry since I told her my lawyer is much cheaper then that   :D

I got a bronchitis now and I am dreaming of all the legal things I am going to do to the ground level coward who never ever even whispered a word of problems to me

I do what I want as long as my wife can buy all the clothes she want ( and get the gold
to wear whenever it gets worthless) ;D :D ;)

Sorry I didn't respond to you here PYW.  I must have missed your post.  The list originally took me quite a while to get right, then I posted it and when it came time to update it, I couldn't find my original and I also couldn't remember whether I started with a Word doc or if it was Excel.

I did find a Word doc, but it's all over the place, so it was unusable.  Now I just use dots as spacers between the columns and it seems to work OK.

Just a note to all the Knights and Knightessess who are involved with the 2009 Medallion Quest. I will be forwarding the initial payment to Moonlight Mint for the purchase of the silver blanks in the next few days. We are looking at $1,005.00 for that process so I will most likely send an even $1,100.00 on this first payment for the program. These funds are for the raw silver and the process involved to turn them into rimmed silver blanks. It is my goal to keep you all informed of the process as it moves along and our costs. We will be facing design, sculpting and engraving charges as well as striking fees. There will be costs for the other copper and pewter blanks added in the process but they will not affect the total like the precious metal silver does. This first payment will be a big chunk out of the way!!!

I will be making payment for silver blanks within the next few days. At this time, if memory serves me correct, we have a total of 51 silver medallions ordered. (both satin and proof). I have instructed Daniel Carr and the Moonlight Mint to strike 60 silver medallions which is 9 more than currently needed. They will be available as needed or to fill any orders which might come in between now and the March 5th order deadline. There is not a doubt in my mind, if more orders are not placed, they will be sold over a short period of time or they can be placed on Ebay to recap our funds. I just wanted to let each one of you know exactly what has transpired this morning concerning this intitial payment to the Moonlight Mint.

As usual I/We must understand this is a ONE STRIKE event for the 2009 Medallion Quest as there will be NO more struck any time in the future. Our efforts will turn to the 2010 Medallion Quest!

I would also point out, at this time, a total of 124 medallions have been ordered. Adding the extra 9 silvers puts the total at 133 medallions which is a very low mintage regardless what is being produced. Seems we are working on another future RARITY here?

I've sent a reminder to those Knights/esses that ordered medallions last year, but haven't ordered this year.

I advised that the closing date for orders is March 5, so maybe we'll receive another late order or two before the closing date.

I've also done a total recheck of all orders and any that were in any way ambiguous, I PM'd the member involved and requested they verify their order/s.

The order by 'type' list so far is:

32 x Silver Proof........$1280.00
20 x Silver Satin..........$800.00
17 x Copper Proof........$340.00
14 x Copper Satin........$280.00
20 x Antique copper.....$400.00
26 x 63mm Pewter.......$520.00
Total to Date............. $3620.00

129 Medallions all up.

I think I can speak for both Nevol and I when saying CoinCrusader and Mountain Lady will again do the dirty work in this quest! They volunteered to mail the packages again and it keeps Daniel from mailing the medallions across quite a few states.

I also want to remind everyone, after all of this is said and done, I will have a new balance in the KOTCT Royal Treasury as most entries have included shipping and NO PayPal fees. Just want everyone to know I have NOT deducted those fees on most of the incoming monies this year. It turned into a constant PAIN in the butt to run back and forth so I just entered the totals as sent by the membership. After the final payment to the Moonlight Mint is made I will have a fresh start. Also I will re-imburse both CoinCrusader and Humpybong for mailers and shipping expenses when the time comes.

One other little item is the fact I intend to re-imburse Jeffrey on shipping charges as he ordered medallions three different times. While his efforts and order is considerably more than normal and will take a few dollars more to ship he has WAY overpaid by using the PayPal button on our site.

I have also instructed Daniel to strike 60 silver medallions which we can use for any new orders that might come in or sell to members down the road through the KOTCT STORE. Our initial payment of $1,100 for silver and silver blank preparation is in the mail to the Moonlight MInt. Another QUEST is nearing a successful ending!!! ;)

We are getting closer to "Paid in Full" on our 2009 Medallion orders. Only ten members left and then I can forward some more hard earned cash to the Moonlight Mint. Hopefully soon the medallions will be struck and enroute to our CoinCrusader for final shipment. The day is drawing near! ;)

The dies are ready.   I'm currently awaiting the arrival of some more silver as well as a due fixture piece for holding the 63mm dies in the coin press.   I'll probably strike the 63mm and 39mm satin pieces first this week.   As soon as I get more silver blanks ready I'll do the 39mm proof-like pieces.

WE CAN NO LONGER ACCEPT NEW ORDERS FOR THE 2009 MEDALLION QUEST.

I have received a late order and payment which we are going to try and fill if the striking process has not started. I have emailed the Moonlight Mint in an effort to add a couple (2) of each medallion type which would cover this late order and provide a few extras for the KOTCT Store. Until I know for certain this can be done the order will be placed on hold at the bottom of the official order list. In the event the order or partial order cannot be filled we will refund the necessary funds to the member. Thanks to all of you for your efforts again this year.

THE DRAGON is ALIVE and WELL at CASTLE KOTCT!!!

The late order has been confirmed by the Moonlight Mint. I have emailed, through the forum with Jeffrey's most recent order. The only problem we might encounter will be whether or not we get a proof silver and satin silver or two of one kind. The other medallions will not be a problem. Thank you Nevol for your continued efforts. It is almost over!!! ;)

I picked up a cashier check today for $1,975 to forward to the Moonlight Mint for our 2009 Medallion Quest. With the earlier check of $1,100 plus the $4 fee for each check our total mailed out thus far is $3,083. If there are any other payments due for this quest they will be minor at this time. I will await Daniel's final word.
The 63mm Pewter Medallions (27) are complete. Daniel will start this week with the 39mm medallions. We are getting closer to wrapping this quest up and we can already call it a huge success. I will update our current balance after the 25th so we can see where we stand on the Memorial Medallion Quest. Thanks to all of you for doing that which such a small group cannot do!
At this time I am assuming I will be handling the shipment of these medallions to our members around the world so be prepared for an address request if I cannot locate yours in my pile of addresses. There will be costs for bubble mailers, boxes and postage yet to come but I intend to do all of this as economically as possible.

Humpybong will you be handling the Aussie shipment again this year? Just want to make certain as that time is drawing near?

To try & help Terry, I'll collect and collate all the mailing addresses etc, send one list to Terry for USA plus O'seas residents, with a separate list to Barry for the Aussies.

I already have a list of mailing addresses from doing the 2009 Secret Santa and the KOTCT 2nd Anniversary Secret Gift Exchange last October, plus some that I managed to source elsewhere.

If you are not sure whether I have your mailing address or not, below is a ist of Knights that I DO NOT have mailing addresses for and HAVE ordered 2009 Medallions. If your name is on the list below please PM me your Name & mailing address[/b]
PLEASE - Do not post any mailing addresses here!!

Please be aware that I may NOT necessarily know your real name, so be sure to include that together with your Forum ID, otherwise errors may occur.

Thanks for your cooperation.

Knight's mailing addresses that I NEED:
edix Rec'd thanks.
haroldgregg
longnine009 Rec'd thanks.
nuggethill[/s] Rec'd thanks.
OldDan Rec'd thanks.
Paint Your Wagon Rec'd thanks.
skisnowmass Rec'd thanks.
Topher Rec'd thanks.

In a couple days time, I will also do a PM to each of the Knights whose addresses I need, just in case they don't see this post.

Now I/We can turn our full attention to the Gary Burke Memorial Medallion as it should come very quickly. It is imperative we get our orders for these memorial medallions locked in so we know exactly where we stand.

I do want to take the opportunity to thank all of you for your dedication and support of another medallion quest. Again we have done the impossible with so few. It is truly an amazing feat in todays world.

I am preparing bubble mailers at this moment and do want each of you to know I have refunded CoinCrusader's payment for the medallions which he ordered. The refund will go with his order to our Mountain Lady as a gift from each of us here at KOTCT. The moderators approved the move a couple of weeks ago so I thought I should share it with each of you.
Michelle (Gary's daughter) has expressed her and her families thanks for our efforts and kindness shown over the past couple of weeks and are looking forward to the memorial project we have undertaken. They will be purchasing medallions for each member of the Burke family and I have assured them we will work with them on their needs.
The Burke family members who are members of this forum will be receiving their medallions as gifts from KOTCT as they have been donated by many of the Knights and Knigtesses who were honored to call Gary Burke our friend and mentor.
I will keep you posted as we move forward in this quest.

That will be up to the Pony Express (here in the states) and Burkes Turtle Service for the rest of the world. I am anxious to see who gets theirs first and who manages to post the first photo here in the castle. And, a little later, we will see which of our foreign Knights or Knightesses get theirs first. YES HUMPYBONG you have to send them on!!!

It is with great pleasure I stop in to the KOTCT Castle on this day. Once again the Knights and Knightesses of Castle KOTCT have done that which cannot be done. A small group with large hearts and an open mind can travel far. For this I raise my mug and staff to each of you.
You have chosen, yet again, to go forth on another quest in honor of one who has passed. This says much about each of you and the Knight which you have chosen not to forget. May your efforts quickly bear fruit as their are those who loved this man as a husband, father, grandfather and friend who will hold that which you have forged forever in their hands and their hearts. I salute you.
Now I go off to watch from a distance, as I always do,  hoping you will travel wisely in your endeavors never fearing the darkness of night. Keep the flame burning and others will come to your light.

It could be interesting seeing who gets theirs first. At least three of the larger packages to the states had to go insured and priority mail for obvious reasons. I was also FORCED to ship the large package to Australia by Priority Mail so Humpybong get ready its on its way! Also, I might mention, all the Aussies orders are in individual bubble mailers awaiting Humpybongs return address and postage. They are already packaged and sealed Humpy! How's that for service? I really don't see the U.S. packages, that shipped first class mail taking longer than Friday to reach their destinations. Looking forward to the officail "Dragon Sightings" that should come in starting Wednesday.

Sit for an hour and a half this morning watching for the mail lady like a kid at Christmas. Then I see her coming, she stop at my mail box, could it be  ???  Yes she puts something into it that looks like a small package. I grab my cane and hobble out to the mail box as fast as I can. I usually wait for someone else to do this. I open my box and there it is !!! A copy of Better Homes and Gardens. O well there is always tomorrow.  :(

There is no direct road to Brisbane from Perth, you have to travel around the edge.
It's a shame we don't have a road throught he middle like Route 66 in the U.S.

Dragon delivery! you say.......well,
this afternoon the sky darkened, the clouds began to gather and darken, there was a great sound of wind over head.

I ran to the mail box with great expectation, and got caught in the dammeds rain storm so far this year.
Needless to say there was no mail.

For the second day in a row, the skys darkened and the thunder and lightning flashed.  A great wind came up from the east and ushered in what I thought was the Dragon sent by Terry with the medal.
I'm not sure what happened along the way, except that the old dragon must have met his match as one of our smaller birds of brey flew in and deposited the coin on my front porch. It then grabbed one of the yearling calfs and flew off to the hills south of town. Got this  picture and guessed at the wing span....something like 11' 0"

Received mine today but it took me a couple of hours before I got to get a good look at it, the wife got hold of it, loved it, and then had to show it to the neighbors, then my youngest son arrived and she showed it to him, and called my daughter so she could come by and see it.

What I have seen of it is magnificent and will go with my others in their castles.

Those cheap old hobby tokens usually go right through customs. These are so old they had a dragon on them! Nice photo Paint Your Wagon! How does it feel to be Belgiums exclusive owner of such a medallion. Collectors from all over Europe would surely envy you if they only knew! ;)

HumpyBong I wanted to make it as quick and painless for you as I could which meant I had to suffer for all my Aussie friends! (anybody buying any of this?) I figured you could slap on a return address and send them on and, as you know, I/We will gladly send your postal fees down there by PayPal. Thats the least we can do for such prompt service. All I need is that PayPal address.

Two Shadows......had a problem yesterday when box arrived.......my mother-in-law (89 years old) had taken ill and ambulance had been called.  She lives 1 hour away from us so we had to pack up and go to stay with her.

Had very little time to check anything.....just added a return address to back of packages and dropped off at post office on our way.

Hope all arrive to final destinations OK (I did not have time to check addresses).

As for the postage cost.......donation from me to KOTCT running funds as usual.

They certainly look good don't they.  Daniel is a true artist.

Merlin said the Dragon shall sleep in the Slovak Republic! Guess he knew what he was talking about.
Erik I am thrilled the package found its way to you as I had never sent a package to your country so I was worried about it being delivered. It is good to see that you have a trustworthy postal system that we all can count on as many countries do not.
I think you will find there are many good hearts inside these walls of KOTCT and two of them have spoken to you by way of this gift. There are millions of good people left in our world and we are all very fortunate to know a few of them here at KOTCT.
Please take the time to thank your mother and father for allowing us into your computer to share our passion for this hobby. And, as for the Knights who purchased your medallion, they have already been thanked in your posting above.

I have been playing with an online translation this morning and not getting exactly what I thought this phrase meant;

In Sulum Miles Militis Nos Fides

Would someone care to translate again for me as I really would like to see how far off I am!

Title: Re: 2009 Medallion orders placed so far:

It translates to "Upon Each Soldier We Assurance".

But I think we meant it to mean "In each Knight we trust".

In trying to get the translation, without looking through all of our 2008 medallion postings, I came upon duplicate meanings for Miles and Militis as they both mean Knight or Soldier. If I put things together correctly I would get "In Each Knight, Knights We Trust" by the dictionary I was searching in. That would be word for word?
If anyone can find a site with a correct explanation I sure would like to have a look at it.

Paint Your Wagon your site is very good but I still, word for word, get a dual answer on Miles and Militis.

Title: Re: 2009 Medallion orders placed so far:
Post by: nohope587 on May 02, 2010, 12:49:00 AM
Its been close to 30 years since I tried to learn Latin but I don't remember a word for Knight as far as I know it means soldier. I don't think the term knight was around in Roman Times so I assume its ok to substitute the word.

Title: Re: 2009 Medallion orders placed so far:
Post by: Twoshadows on May 02, 2010, 02:12:35 AM
Through the years there must have been changes as the translation now includes soldier, foot soldier and Knight. I am having trouble with the fact two words used on our medallion both show the same definition which would put it as In Each Knight, Knights we trust? That would be using one of the various words used for each Latin word I entered and searched for.
Don't get me wrong as I really like the mystery the latin terminology adds to the reverse of the medallions. I am just trying to learn something today and at my age that can be confusing!

As you know my wife has a doctor coming to the house daily for injections
His best translation was that Militis is a genetiv possessive word for Miles
So it would be In Each Knight's Knight we trust
He proposed it was bad latin for a superknight and said he would try and look it up but I doubt he has the time

Thank you Paint Your Wagon as I now know I am not completely crazy! ;D

I am still amazed that a doctor will make house calls in Belgium. Sometimes we are lucky to see our doctors in their own offices!

Now here is another question this morning! Where is Daniel Carr's logo on our 2009 medallions?

Title: Re: 2009 Medallion orders placed so far:

Good point, Terry.
It appears that Daniel has omitted it from the design this year.

Yes, or he hid it very well which I suspected at first but after a tremendous amount of looking I can't find one. Was it intentional or an oversight? It Daniel did accidently forget would this make them the FIRST Moonlight Mint error to reach circulation (so to speak)? Perhaps Daniel has new Moonlight Mint logo in mind? Seems we have a new mystery on our hands but, as they say, someone knows! ;D

A BIG Thank You to all involved.

What has happened to our 'keeper of the records'

Received items not being marked off the list.

I know she has received her medallions....maybe she is still in shock over the beauty of them!

I hope she has not gone out on STRIKE! But in the event she has I/We are prepared to pay her three times more than what she is making right now! ;) And that is just because we all love her so much! Good help is hard to find you know! ;D

Merlin says"She is Dragon Drooling" whatever that is? ;D

No excuses for my non performance.  :-[  :-[   ;D  ;D

Just a quick note to Nancy from Bill (longnine009) to let you know he received his medalions and thought they were very nice. This should help you stay up with your charting....I hope.

You Aussie's have no idea how badly I wanted to get in that box when it went to Humpybong. I figured you all could pass me around long enough to raise the funds to ship me back up here! But it would still have been a great trip! ;)

The last I heard from Daniel Carr was the mere fact he was still waiting for the pewter medallions to arrive. Will try to contact him again soon to see where the project stands.
