Title: Re: aussie $5 coins Post by: humpybong on October 15, 2007, 07:00:57 PM There are a few more that have been missed: Royal Flying Doctor Sunda Straight - HMAS Perth Sunda Straight - USS Houston Rugby World Cup Sydney to Athens Bicentenay of Tasmania Melb Comm Games - Queens Relay Commonwealth Nations And I think I missed a couple more, but will need to look up my books to see. Title: Re: aussie $5 coins Post by: ElleKitty on October 15, 2007, 11:35:22 PM Are these NCLT coins, or do $5 coins actually circulate in Australia? I'm leaning toward NCLT, since you have such lovely $5 notes.
Title: Re: aussie $5 coins Post by: humpybong on October 16, 2007, 05:43:30 AM No $5 coin circulates in Australia, they are all NCLT. Title: Re: aussie $5 coins Post by: buda on October 17, 2007, 05:29:03 PM (http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee137/tyjulie/Bi%20Metal%20Coins/5usshouston.jpg)

Title: Re: aussie $5 coins Post by: Twoshadows on October 17, 2007, 08:06:14 PM By golly I do have an Aussie $5 coin as the USS Houston is in my collection. The sad part is I can't remember who I was trading with at the time when I received it? None the less it is here! Of course I have the Australian Tri-metallic that sure puts a sparkle in my eye everytime I look at it!

Title: Re: aussie $5 coins Post by: Brissyboy on November 03, 2007, 08:20:04 AM There are a few more that have been missed: Royal Flying Doctor Sunda Straight - HMAS Perth Sunda Straight - USS Houston Rugby World Cup Sydney to Athens Bicentenay of Tasmania Melb Comm Games - Queens Relay Commonwealth Nations And I think I missed a couple more, but will need to look up my books to see. These are some of the $5 coin issues but they are not all Bi-metalic. The $5 bi-metalic issues were: 1994 Women's Enfranchisement SA 1894-1994 in unc and proof 1996 Sir Donald Bradman Tribute in unc 1997 Sir Donald Bradman Tribute in unc from PNC 1998 Royal Flying Doctor Service 70 years of service in unc 2000 Phar Lap 1930 in unc 2002 Battle of Sunda Strait 1942-2002 in unc in HMAS Perth card and USS Houston card 2003 Rugby World Cup silver proof with selective gold overlay 2004 AFL Australia's Own Game silver proof with selective gold overlay It is ashame the Royal Australian Mint has ceased production of the $5 with an inner metal core and outer metal ring. They weighed 10.6 grams and were 28.12 mm in diameter with an inner core ring of Aluminium bronze and the outer ring of austenitic stainless steel.
