There's an awful lot of coins out there still.

I have in my possession an 1943 George VI penny, and I can't tell if it has the PENNY. mintmark on it or not.  Just how large or small are these dots? Most of the other coins have a fairly large sized dot, that can be seen with the naked eye.  The coin in question has a small dot, but I need my magnifier to see it.

Question is, do I classify this coin as Melbourne or Perth?  At the very least I'm sure it isn't India!

There does not appear to be a dot after the Y in PENNY so I would say it is a Melbourne mint coin.

However you have not show the obverse so I cannot see if it has the "I" mintmark bottom left of neck between the G in George and the P in IMP.

Barry, I'm certain that there isn't an I on the front. Cheesy  I just wasn't sure if there was a Perth mintmark that was nearly microscopic or not. Cheesy

Yay! That fills a hole in my almost complete penny set.  ^_^

I agree with humpybong, it does appear to be a Melbourne mint coin!
