Just though I'd post this land series specimen $1.00 to see what you think, this is part of a set of six $1.00 coins that depicts Australian native animals, the one that I'm posting is the Bilby a type of Bandicoot.
There habitat is Mulga shrubland and spinifex grassland from south-west Queensland to the northen parts of Western Australia, they eat specialised diet of seeds, bulbs, fruit and fungi.
Bilbys live in burrows and have poor eyesight, but have an excellent sense of smell for finding food, these small masupials are slowly becomming extinct.

I like Bandicoots.
To help increase the awareness of their endangerment, we have chocolate Bandicoots instead of chocolate rabbits at Easter.
The bunny is it's enemy, they compete for the same space.

Next one is the Koala
It's appearance: thick set marsupial with thick, grey to brown fur, large ears and a large flat nose.
Habitat : Eucalpt forests in Eastern Australia, from Adelaide to Northern Queensland.
Diet : Koalas are fussy eaters and prefer specific types of gum leaves.

Some interesting facts : Koalas have two 'thumbs' on there front paws to help them grip when climbing and eating, the koala is one of a few mammals (apart from primates) with fingerprints, each individual's prints are distinct and they are similar in appearance to human fingerprints.

as you have seen the obverse with the first coin I'll just show you the reverse of all the coins to follow.

I'll post another one soon (Frilled Neck Lizard)

regards Harry

If my wife sees the Koala, she will have to have one -- the coin that is.
