I just acquired a sealed box that has been sealed for 35 years with two silver coins from island
Not many sets of 1000 and 500 Kronur exist because coindealers break them up since they fetched more money in two different sales
Both coins give a tale of how land was acquired in Iceland
The men lighted a fire when the sun was in the east and walked and lighted another fire when the sun was in the west
Both fires where the markers of their new land

The women could take land too
As much land as they could walk with a 2 year old cow in springtime . I guess this was somekind of handicap

Congratulations!  This is a lovely set, and I am fortunate enough to have both coins as well as a certificate.  The coins are not sealed, however- they're in 2x2s labelled by the person from whom I bought a set of mixed world coins.

The coins came in a faux red leather presentation box with two dips scoped out to place the coins ( but they are still joined at the hip by the plastic seal ) the leather box was in a carboard box still stapled shut . The ebay vendor was asking much to much but there was a make an offer buttom . So I offered 20% below ask at 35 euro and was amazed to immidiately get a response the coins were mine . I mainly bougth them since I got the big brother 10 000 kronur
