Opps that should have read inactive here. Sorry.
2  KOTCT Global Projects / 2009 Medallion Quest / Re: 2009 Medallion orders placed so far: on: February 12, 2010, 07:33:53 PM
With all the issues with my parents over past 4 months, I haven't been very active here or got around to order any Medallions.

If it is not too late Nancy, I would like to order, One silver Satin and One Silver Proof. I think this was what I ordered last time.

Is it possible to let me know how much I need to pay and how best to make that payment? Sorry to be such a burden but I am really in the dark here. So many little things have been missed over past months.

Thanks
Wayne

Thanks for the info Wayne - planning on going to pick up my CAB magazine today.

Hope your Dad continues to improve quickly.
Thanks Anna, unfortunately we had to admit him back into hospital on Sunday when he came down with a bladder infection. He has progressed well this week and we hope he will be released on Monday in time to fly to Mackay for Christmas with his granddaughter and her new baby and family. Hope you have a great Christmas and get lots of numismatic presents.

Thanks Anna, we had Dad come home from hospital yesterday and he is doing really well now. I'll go back to work today as so much to do before the Christmas break and my January holidays.

I read in CAB Magazine that the RAM will be at the February 6th and 7th 2010 Perth ANDA Show and will have a special "P" privymark dollar only available at that Show. It is rare for the RAM to strike coins with a Perth mark on as it is usually reserved for coins struck by the Perth Mint. Better put your order in with your local coin dealer that will be at the Perth ANDA.

The One Dollar "mintmark/privymark" coinage for 2010 will follow the theme of "A 100 Years of Australian Coinage". I think collectors will be quite pleased with the new theme's design and it will certainly appeal to those that follow "Royal" themed coinage too. Unsure at this stage if there will be any "counterstamp mark" coins stamped at Shows in 2010. This will depend on the RAM attending the Show with their portable press that stamps the host city's "mark" onto already struck coins.

There will be a commemorative Fifty Cents coin released in January 2010 to mark Australia Day. Again collectors should be very pleased with the design of the reverse. A silver proof version will also be available with gold highlights.

Tracy,

You might like to know that the Army C, the Navy and the Airforce dollars come in two obverse varieties. There is a slight difference in size of the effigy which can sometimes been seen by the text around the Queen being closer or further from the rim. The easiest way to tell which die variety you have is to look at the designer's initials "IRB" under the Queen's neck. The larger effigy obverse has the letters all spaced apart (I R B). The smaller effigy obverse has the letters joined or the last two joined (IRB) with the I and R having a slight gap and the R joining on to the B. The Army S  and the International Year of Volunteers dollars are only found with the IRB joined obverse. The Centenary of Federation dollar has both varieties but it seems the circulating coins only have the IRB joined while those in sets can have either type.

Cheers,
Wayne

I received a nice Christmas/New Year best wishes email from Shane this week. He will be having a wee holiday break from Christmas and the first week of January when he will have the shop closed but will be watching his email (orders).

Hummm, well you guys can send all your worst liked designs to me because I am still missing a lot of the issues.  Smiley

I had a look at the new 2009 designs for the District of Columbia and the five US Territories and there sure are some attractive ones in those.

The odd number for the Silver Proofs are the extra few coins struck for the RAM Museum Collection.
10  Worldwide Coins & Bank Notes / Australian Coins / Australian one dollar 25mm type on: June 11, 2008, 09:40:41 PM
I'm an avid Aussie dollar collector and have to have every type there is of the standard circulating size of 25mm - be it circulating, non-circulating, FRUNC, specimen, proof, silver, gold, coloured, variety, etc. Packaging is not such an issue for me though.

Below is a list of dollar coins by year, designer, theme, issue, finish, metal, variety and mintage. I'll start with the coins of the 1980s first, all struck at the Royal Australian Mint in Canberra.

1984   Rev. Stuart Devlin's Mob of Five Kangaroos; Obv. Arnold Machin's effigy of Queen Elizabeth II; Aluminium Bronze; Circulation 185,985,000; Carded Unc 538,358; Proof in Case 159,340; Carded $1 Five Coin Collection (Restrike 1993/94) 16,702.

1985   Rev. Stuart Devlin's Mob of Five Kangaroos; Obv. Raphael Maklouf's effigy of Queen Elizabeth II; Aluminium Bronze; Circulation 96,200,000; Mint Set Unc 170,000; Proof in Set 74,089; Carded $1 Five Coin Collection (Restrike 1993/94) 16,702.

1986   Rev. Horst Hahne's International Year of Peace; Obv. Raphael Maklouf's effigy of Queen Elizabeth II; Aluminium Bronze; Circulation 25,100,000; Mint Set Unc 180,000; Proof in Set 67,000; Carded $1 Five Coin Collection (Restrike 1993/94) 16,702.

1987   Rev. Stuart Devlin's Mob of Five Kangaroos; Obv. Raphael Maklouf effigy of Queen Elizabeth II; Aluminium Bronze; Mint Set Unc 200,000; Proof in Set 69,684.

1988   Rev. Stuart Devlin's First Fleet Bicentenary (Aboriginal Art Styled Kangaroo); Obv. Raphael Maklouf's effigy of Queen Elizabeth II; Aluminium Bronze; Circulation 20,400,000; Mint Set Unc (Coin Fair) 10,000; Mint Set Unc 290,940; Proof in Set (Coin Fair) 3,000 Proof in Set 101,518; Carded $1 Five Coin Collection (Restrike 1993/94) 16,702; Sterling Silver Proof in Masterpieces Set (Coin Fair) 5,000; Sterling Silver Proof in Masterpieces Set 19,970.

11  Worldwide Coins & Bank Notes / Australian Coins / Message for Snooba on: June 11, 2008, 08:34:19 PM
Hi Snooba/Kathryn,

I got your message but couldn't reply to you so hope you see this here. Can you please contact me again with your email address and/or postal address.

You may have already found out, the Aussie Forum is not there any longer. Not sure what has happen and we all feel like chooks with their heads cut off running around the yard.

I could only get you one of the B Counterstamp dollars for you. The RAM only allowed three coins per person at a time and the line up for the portable press to have them counterstamped was long and could take an hour or more at any one time. Over the Saturday and Sunday of the Show I was only able to get 18 coins to divide up for Aussie Forum members.

Very nice indeed. I particularly like this one because the reverse features 2003 Maundy coins (the coins the sovereign gives out on Maundy Thursday to the aged or poor).

I started collecting the 2002-2003 Jubilee coins but without knowing what was produced at the time I certainly don't have them all. Most of mine are also the Cupro Nickel uncirculated issues though I do have some nice silver proof and some  PNCs with the crowns.

Hi Richard,

You and Shane have done a great job with this spreadsheet.

You asked for feedback. I have noticed a number of errors and omissions and ways to improve on the listings and descriptions for the decimals.

I'll work on it when I can and when finished I'll let you know and then we can work out a way for me to get it to you.

Well done but now you have to find it's variety partner.

Yes the 1972 5 cents has two reverse varieties. I think you have the small or high reverse. The other would be called the large or low reverse. It is about the space at top and bottom of the Echidna. Happy hunting.

15  Worldwide Coins & Bank Notes / Australian Coins / Re: International Year of Planet Earth on: January 18, 2008, 11:33:39 PM
Twoshadows,

The International Year of Planet Earth one dollar will not be released into circulation so the only coins available will be from the 2 coin uncirculated set and the 6 coin Proof set (for those that collect the proof dollars too). We may even see a similar situation to 2007 where the Mob of Roos one dollar may not be released into circulation either. The Uncirculated Mob of Roos will be in 6 coin Mint Set while the Proof Mob of Roos is available in the 2 coin Proof sets and the 6 coin Baby Proof Sets and a specimen quality uncirculated Mob of Roos is in the 6 coin Wedding Sets. The 6 coin Baby Uncirculated Sets have the 2008 Norman Lindsay Magic Pudding dollar.

It appears that the 2008 circulation one dollar coin will commemorate 100 Years of Scouting in Australia.

Other one dollar coins for 2008 are the Centenary of Rugby League and the Year of the Rat, both uncirculated in cards. There will be a second dollar coin released later in the year for the Centenary of Rugby League. They also have a pure silver proof version of the Year of the Rat dollar.

There are to be dollar coins for the Land Series - similar to the 2006-07 Ocean Series of Frosted Uncirculated dollar coins with colour pad printing.

And of course we have the Centenary of the Coat of Arms dollar with the C mintmark. This will be followed during the year with the S, B and M privy marked coins and the Coin Show counter stamped S, B and M coins. This series also includes a Pure Silver Proof version also with a C mintmark.

And that's what we know about and it is only January.

Happy collecting,
Wayne
