I have posted these on the Aussie Coin Forum previously, but for the benefit of our overseas friends they are here. I must thank Brissyboy for initial guidance and advice with relation to the coins that are in there. There are some coins that are not in this set, but exist in the Fine Silver Sets on display in my glass fronted cupboard, as it would be a crying shame to release them from the nice wooden surrounds they were first put into. The 1966 set is on its way as I write this.

I especially enjoy the Selectively gold plated 2006 varieties. I hope you do as well. Most of these coins were taken from Proof sets, and some of them are the Silver Proofs. It's a pity that Dansco don't do the 16 coin blank pages separately as the ones in this set were taken from an album and the printing was removed with Kerosene as necessary. Blank 16 coin pages could allow me to label them with clear tape/black writing and make the set nicer. Ah well. Cheers.

What a beaut set. I just learned something. I didn't know there was a 1989 Captain Cook 50c.

Hi Triggersmob,
The 1989 Captain Cook coin is a Silver proof that was part of a " 1989 Masterpieces in Silver "  set that also included the 1989 dated Silver Jubilee coin, the 1989 dated Royal Wedding coin, the 1989 dated Commonwealth Games coin and the 1989 dated Bicentennial coin, all Silver proofs. Cheers.

I wondered why I saw the "same" coin twice.  I thought they had different looks to them and suspected some were silver and others cupro-nickel.

*sighs, drools.*  That's the exact set that I'm going for, but instead of getting proof issues, I'm extremely happy with uncirculated, or near uncirculated specimens of the coins issued for circulation.

I do have that 1973 coin in proof, sitting on the shelf right infront of me, displayed though. Smiley  The Aussie 50 cent coin is a magnificent piece of art.

Hi Elle,
I have an UNC set of the 50 cents as well taken from mint sets etc. Later tonight, our time, I will try and put them up in another thread. I like the 50 cent and one dolloar coins for the varieties available. Cheers.
