Finally found one.

After years of looking, I finally found an Aussie 1972 5c in circulation.
I found it in the till at work, there was only about $1 worth left in there today, buy there it was. Not in too bad a condition either.

Well done! It certainly looks a heap better than the one I sent you.

Well done but now you have to find it's variety partner.
Yes the 1972 5 cents has two reverse varieties. I think you have the small or high reverse. The other would be called the large or low reverse. It is about the space at top and bottom of the Echidna. Happy hunting.

Thanks for the info, Brissyboy, but I am not a variety collector. One from each year is enough for me.
Now I have two though, thanks to Nancy.

There's an awful lot of coins out there still.

Congratulations, Steve! I'm so glad you finally got the thrill of finding one in circulation for yourself. there's nothing like that feel of finding treasure.

You guys are really lucky. But you must already know this.
I got $50 of 5¢ last week & found a total of ZERO 1972's. I wasn't especially after them as I do have one, my real goal was 2007's as they seemed to be in short supply. I found 3 and sent the rest of the $50 back to the bank. Oh I did find a 2006 Tilted Collar, which made the effort well worth while.
This week I found another 6 x 2007's from a batch of $8.15 of 5¢. Go figure! It took from the end of Nov 07 to end Feb 08 to find 7 of the little blighters.
