Prior to 1956 all three mints were used for most years, then from 1956 to 1967 it was only Denver and Philadelphia. In 1967 San Francisco minted again for circulation, before minting proof coins only from 1969 on. Denver and Philadelphia carried on minting upto 2007.

This is a rough summary taken from the Red Book.

Hope it helps.

If you need any Lincoln cents let me know, I have a few spares.

 Cheesy

Dear Friend:
Now a days P=Philadelphia, D=Denever mint marks are used in normal circulating coins.

S- is used for San Francisco Proof Coins and Proof Sets.

W- is used for West Point Mint on high value coins.

Earlier Morgan Dollars has

O= New Orleons Mint

C.C= Carson City Mint.   The Morgan Dollars with C.C Mint mark is quite valuable irrespective of the grade of the coin.
