Is anyone aware of any coins forthcoming that will be unique, beautiful or a must have coin? Seems to me the mints of the world have lost their vision when it comes to desirable coins? I am eagerly awaiting the 2010 Coin of the Year but have yet to see or hear of anything worthy! I want to be excited once again!!! Cry

I AM NOT SURE ABOUT HOW GOOD LOOKING THE NEW MINT COINS ARE GOING TO BE BUT THE BACK OF THE LINCOLN PENNY IS SUPPOSED TO HAVE A SHIELD AND BANNER AND THE 2 COMMEMORATIVES WILL HONOR THE BOY SCOUTS AND DISABLED AM. VETS.

I guess with my latest findings at my folks house (cleaning out the house to be sold after 74 yrs of family habitation) of some of my dad's Boy Scout medals, some 1915 & 1917 Boy Scout merit cards, his wool hat (Like a state trooper's hat), and yesterday's find of his B S bugle (1918-?), it really bothers me that a girl is portrayed on the Boy Scout coin. I guess political correctness is alive and growing.

Are you sure it's not a hippy? Grin

I saw a silver commemorative from Italy I wish I had bought as I have been unable to locate one since. I believe the year was 2002 and it was absolutely beautiful. A lady graced the front, almost as if she was floating and a tree on the reverse. Don't remember the details but do wish I had added that coin to my Euro collection. Cry

I DON'T like the reverse of the 2010 Lincoln Cent. It is almost like the Mint didn't want to take the time to do something admirable to the coin so, what the h___, just slap a shield on it and go on! Cry

I don't think it is but I am watching that Ebay auction just the same. The one I fell in love with had a tree on the back.(I think but I have slept since then)

I really like coins that jump out at you. I assume the Italians use Europa as the ladies tend to add the beauty concept I am looking for. Austria is outstanding in their details and great strikes on the finished products. Just looking for coins that bring it all home, so to speak!

Will let you know if this Italian coin finds its way into my home! Wink

Templar don't misunderstand me! I want some of the Mints to IMPRESS us with art, beauty and high relief coinage and it is just not happening right now. Cry

I haven't been too thrilled about the Shield on the cent either. But I'm trying to hold off judgement untill I actually see one. And I think its utterly ridiculous to have a girl on a boy scouts coin. Give the girls their own coin for Pete's sake!
