I have already chastised myself for this.  Slapped my wrist and tried to kick my backside, but wasn't agile enough.

I am currently working on my pre-decimal Australian penny collection.

I need some help with the pennies I have sitting here on my desk.  I think most, if not all of them have mints I can't determine.

Humpybong was kind enough to help me with the problem several weeks ago.  However, when I started working on them tonight, and looked for humpybong's e-mail, I found it was gone.  Should have printed it off, but I didn't.

Sorry.

If you Aussie folks would give me a second chance, I would appreciate it.

Here are the pennies I have yet to put in the book.  Any help with determining the mint will be appreciated.  And, I promise not to lose your response.

1950
1956
1944
1951
1961
1919
1941
1942
1943

Again, thanks.

Sorry about putting this in the wrong forum.  I could move it, but don't feel it's that big of a deal.

Also, my apoolgies for crediting humpybong with the e-mail.  It was someone else now that I think about it.

Anyway, any help would be appreciated.

For pennies dated after 1938:

London, England - "PL" mint-mark
Bombay, India - "I" mint-mark
Perth Mint - "."  between the "K" and the "G"
Perth Mint - "." after the letter "Y" of the word "PENNY"
Perth Mint - "." after the last "A" of "AUSTRALIA"
Melbourne - no mint-mark

So look for either a "PL", "I", "K.G", "Y." or an "A." mint-mark!

Perth Mint "Y." mint-mark

Perth Mint "A." mint-mark

Melbourne Mint no mint-mark

London Mint "PL" mint-mark

Unfortunately I don't have any "I" or "K.G" mint-marks, so I will try to find a picture of them through Cruzi's web site.

Here is a picture of a 1943 "I" (India) mint-mark penny that I am bidding on:

The earlier, London-minted pennies (pre-1919) don't have a mintmark. The "PL" mintmark is only seen on coins from 1951.

1919: Melbourne only (no mintmark).
1941: Melb. (no MM), Perth (either a dot either between the KG designer's initials or a dot after "penny".
1942: Melb. (no MM), Perth (a dot after "penny"), Bombay India (dots before and after "penny", and "I" under head on obverse).
1943: same as 1942.
1944: Melb. (no MM), Perth (a dot after "penny")
1950: Melb. (no MM), Perth (a dot after "penny")
1951: Melb. (no MM), Perth (a dot after "penny"), London (small PL after "penny")
1956: Melb. (no MM), Perth (a dot after "penny")
1961: Perth only (a dot after "penny")

The 1912 and 1915 penny can also be found with an "H" mint-mark for Heaton Mint in Birmingham.
For the 1916, 1917, and 1918 pennies, the "I" mint-mark is for Calcutta, India, not Bombay, India.
For pennies dated before 1937, a dot below the scroll is for Melbourne, and a dot above is for Sydney.

Steve, What, me confused?

My problem is trying to do too many things at the same time.
