I have been trying to attempt to do a better job than the PHD (Push here dummy) button on my camera. Sony cameras are notorious for having problems with green so I chose that background I also forgot to reset the white balance when I took it off auto (See why I need the dummy button) I know nothing about photography I just played with the settings until the display looked as close to the actual coin as I could then pushed the button

Anyway here be my results. Please be brutal in your critique..

Image 1 full auto just push button

Image 1 photoshopped to try and colour match reality

Full manual mode including focus

Maual mode photoshopped to match colours with reality

Full manual auto focus

Personally I think

Image 1 full auto just push button

It shows the design better and has a more natural look, but I don't have one of the coins for a color comparison.
But it looks good to me.

Just my opinion for what it is worth, which my wife says isn't much.

I do not know what your green background looks like
your bottom picture is bluish green whereas your photoshop is yellowish green ( I painted on silk for 8 years )
If this is the true color (your photoshop) then you have a blueshift due to whitebalance problems
If your camera can do whitebalance calibrating you should get a 7% greycard at any photoshop ( brick and mortar one)
I was too leazy so I bought 3 full spectrum light (saving) bulbs in germany with a known daylight of 6000K
I set on my canon 6000K and couple the canon to the computer for vibrationless release ( by mouseclick) and immidiate viewing
I use creative auto ( this means the camera proposes a shutter opening and a time like 1/100 seconds at 5.6 dia and allows then to rotate thru all equivalent settings ; for dept I allways go to the highest number preferably 11 diafragma if I still get 1/30 seconds
- the camera is on an alu stand - )

I think the last picture ( full auto ) would sell best on ebay

In my personal opinion all pictures could do with more contrast ( black and white balance ) but that is a given for
all coinpictures before photoshopping

So point and shoot looks best  Angry

I agree with Madspec.

I always use the PHD button.

I know that and am proud of the fact HA HA and according to the TV show I am usually not smarter there either.
Never was to great with a camera if I got the subject in the frame I felt good about it.

OK reading the volume they call a manual, and taking note of the Sage advice from Mr paint your wagon. I now think I can do better than the PHD.

No photoshop Full manual auto focus Colour on the coin is a close to truth as I can tell.

Is it just me or do the pictures all take up more than one screen?  I have to scroll up and accross if I want to view the coin.  It makes it very difficult to judge.

If it is not me, can the pictures be made slightly smaller.  If it is, how do I view them properly?
