There's an awful lot of coins out there still.

KM #4 1969, 2 1/2 shillings of Biafra.
Composition: aluminum.

This area of Eastern Nigeria attempted to become it's own country, and failed miserably.  A very violent and bloody time, but the war was lost more over a shortage of food than anything else. Coins were only minted in this country for 1969.

Obviously, it sports a leopard; making it a must for any collector of Kitties!

Nice coin, Kitty.

An unusual denomination, 2 1/2 Shillings. first time I've seen that.

Brings back memories of the "starving Biafrans" and the efforts to save them.

I like animals on coins.  Nice addition to your collection.

The coins from Biafra, particularly the circulating coins are much scarcer than the paper money.  Most of the coins actually saw circulation, and made it to Biafra, but the paper money order was still in Europe when the war with Nigeria ended and they lost all value.  They subsequently made it to auction etc. and flooded the market with what became 10¢ novelty notes.
