Scottishmoney I traveled in 1972, as a very young man, to a college in Missouri to see my younger brother who was attending said college. I really didn't go to see him but to meet a ture Native American cheerleader that was absolutely beautiful. I just wanted to see if this young lady was as attractive as her photos as she shook this young Hoosiers heart. Well she WAS and I loved every minute of that trip. A couple of years ago my brother and I were shooting the bull, so to speak, and the trip to Missouri was brought up and he was dumbfounded when I mentioned her name! He couldn't believe I spit it right out as he had forgotten it. NO young man with two eyes could have ever forgotten Gay Slaybaugh!!! Roll Eyes

Man I am absolutely outstanding at getting off topic! Grin

Methinks Australia is doing what France does
France had like 64 new designs last year  Huh

We can't let those French persons win. We need to have at least 100!  Grin

The planet Earth coins are quite nice actually. I have the mint set and two coin set.

There's an awful lot of coins out there still.

Good Lord no! Not 100 different designs. ><  It's hard enough to keep up with the RAM, as it is.  And I pretty much ignore most of what the Perth mint produces;  Overpriced bullion. Sad

Yeah well, I think the RAM will give the Perth mint some competition in the years to come with varieties. Especially now that they have Mintmark, counterstamp and privy mark $1 coins planned.

Remember that old saying "If I only had a dollar for every 'blah'" ? Well now we can, and a different design or mark every time Lol.

The MM, Privey marks and counterstamp coins won't actually mean extra coins as such - it will just be a way of differentiating (and correctly labelling) the dollar coins that we have referred to as 'Main Press' and 'Mobile Press' coins. Up till now, all the coins in this series have been referred to as 'Mint Mark' coins.

The Main Press C MM coin will be the only coin referred to as having a MintMark. These coins will have a raised 'C' without any circle or square surrounds.

Coins that have been produced on the main press for other cities (eg B for Brisbane, S for Sydney, M for Melbourne, A for Adelaide etc) will be more correctly referred to as having Privy Marks. These coins will be identifiable by having an incuse square around the lettering.

Coins that have been counterstamped on the mobile press at shows etc will have an incused circle around the lettering. These will be referred to as counterstamped

At least there will be no confusion in recognising the mobile press coins any more. I just hope RAM plans to continue this practice and that it isn't just a 1 year venture.

But just how many privy marks are they planning? One for every city of Australia?  Can I have one for Mackay? Cheesy Grin

Been a GREAT Australia week here in Indiana. I have added the following to my collection; Bronze 2008 Original Coat of Arms $1, the 2008 Centenary of Scouts Australia, and the International Year of Planet Earth which contains the proof 20 cent piece and the 2008 MOB OF ROOS!!!! Grin I am very impressed with the low mintage of the Silver Coat of Arms at 12,500. It is my humble opinion that these low mintage world coins have no where to go except up in value. Thanks to my good friends in OZ I am off to a great start here in 2008!
