oops. I forgot about this thread. I went to the show in St. Louis on the 9th, and had a great day. I got this 1916-s walker for my set. Not my nicest one but, being a key date, I couldn't afford a mint-state coin.

I had a little money in the budget left to play with, and ended up getting my first bust half:

There's an awful lot of coins out there still.

My purchase of the week were these two coins:

Spanish Philippines, 1 Piso. Coin has initials scratched on the front behind the King's head, but I so rarely see Spanish Philippines coinage that I got it anyway.

Japanese 1 Yen coin, Meiji 35 (1902)  This coin has a banker's ink chop on the front of it, making it a necessary addition to my chopmarked coin collection Cheesy

Guess my buy of the week has to be the 1943 six sided Belgium Congo 2 Franc that just arrived. When I decided I needed this "Elephant" coin in my collection I did a little searching around for average prices being paid. Then I went on Ebay and played the waiting game as I am tight as bark on a tree. After watching this coin go in the $20 to $30 range, from all over the world, I managed to grab a nice speciment for $10.50. It finally arrived today and has the added bonus of a very pronounced die crack through a star on what I assume is the reverse of the coin which I did not notice on the Ebay auction. Now I must focus on my next "odd" coin as I continue my search for oddities of the world!

And, no I don't kow how to post photos yet but must learn as I have some real beauties I hope to share with all of you some day!  Grin

Is this the one?

as I am tight as bark on a tree.

That's not an expression I have heard in Australia, Maybe because the bark falls off our trees instead of the leaves.

I offer a photo posting service, just forward the coins to me. LOL

Yes, thats the one Triggersmob! Now all you have to do is add the die crack running verticalliy across the star on the left side. Don't know why that coin made such an impression on me but I had to have one. Been searching the Standard Catalog of World Coins for oddities (well odd to me) in the last few days and the best thing I could really do is stay OUT of there!!! Grin

I appreciate your offer to post photos for me. How kind of my fellow Australians! And, in return never forget my FREE coin storage here in Indiana which I have continueously offered for years now!

For the most part you can't get the bark off of our trees but every fall we look forward to the millions of leaves piling up in our yard! I can't get my wife to buy into the fact those leaves are great fertilizer or could be piled for mulch! She thinks they need to be bagged up and removed for some odd reason? Cry
