They tell me it was a long wait in line to get the counterstamp coins. I had a mate fly down to visit the show and waited 90 minutes in line! Then they only allowed 3 at a time.

The Brisbane counterstamp would be one of the lowest mintage $1 coins with less than 4000. Be interesting to know just how many. I managed to buy one from Oztion over the weekend. You see them slowly popping up on Ebay too but not at the same rate the Sydney counterstamp did.

B privy mark for Brisbane.

There's no way it could have spaces for all those minted. Probably just circulation issues. Australia has so many different dollar coins even we can't keep up with them.

Okay I'm thinking of Perth mint NCLT where the coin bares no physical size similarity to CLT. So anything that doesn't circulate is NCLT. What does that make predecs? OCLT - Once circulated legal tender?  Grin

Yass yep that's the one. I just typed "Q" because I can't spell quarantine, it's too long to write and I'm getting very lazy lately.  Grin

Struth, look at all the NCLT. Didin't really have those in mind but then I'm a bit fuzzy on what NCLT is these days with MOR and COA only in mint sets.  Huh

Has anyone done a dollar coin tally of what is or will be for 2008? I don't collect them all but have a couple of friends that do. I know of the scouts, Q, COA and it's mintmark/counterstamp/privy, colour land series, MOR. Have I missed any?

...So are they going for paypal insurance only and more protection ? Anything like this happening in the US or Australia ?

Worse. Australia is being forced to use Paypal as the only payment option when using feebay. For some reason Paypal Australia has extra fees for just about everything and is troublesome, glitchy and painfully slow clearing e-checks. The result being many sellers and buyers have quit feebay and use the alternate Australian auction site Oztion.

Very nice Buda. My florin collection has been neglected of late. Those rotten yellow things have been taking all my attention.  Roll Eyes

I was very tempted to get a Melbourne Centenary from a southern dealer in UNC. Was $500. Shocked  UNC ones are only a little more than EF so you may as well go for one of those.

My "S" privy marks arrived in the mail today. That's the one with the square around the S.

The font appears to be more bold on the reverse an IMO looks nicer.

I'm young enough that before yesterday I never saw what a predecimal note looked like "in the flesh" before. A mate brought over his collection and showed me one or two.

These would have been the notes my parents used on a daily basis. They never kept any so until now I've never seen one before.

First impression, they look like monopoly money Lol.  Tongue

The next coin in the Coat of Arms series is the Sydney S counterstamp from the portable press. Nice coin this one. Mirror like GEM uncirculated. The target mintage was only 16,000.

Yes, coins could actually buy stuff once. Now they are only good for change it seems. Cupro-Nickel  buys very little and Bronze is only good for making 3rd place medals. Tongue Real coins are made from silver or gold.

Well done Steve! I ended up buying one. Hard to find little fellas. Mine is also small high version I think.

Congratulations Steve! Yes it's a great feeling to complete a set.

Not so long ago I also completed a full threepence set minus overdates. It took a few months and when done I calculated it cost me twice as much doing it that way compared to buying a complete set! Oops. Shocked

I also wanted a sixpence set, but this time I bought a full set outright. Only cost me half as much as the threepence set too! Some of the early dates are poor but I can still upgrade as needed.

Florins are a different story. I'm getting them one by one so I can get to know them individually and better quality too. Unfortunately at the rate I'm going it will be about 500 years before I finish it.  Roll Eyes

Thought I would break mine out of the folder for a photography session. Comes with complementary bag marks, brown spots and funny shape rim. Apart from that it's fine.  Roll Eyes
