I would like to declare my Australian Fifty Cents collection complete.  But, I can't quite yet.

Here is my question.

I am looking at my Dansco Album right now, and I see only one open space.  It is for the year 2000.

The album has three spaces for 2000.  The first just states 2000 with a mintage of 16,630,000.  The second is for "Royal Visit," and the third is for "Millennium."

I have the Royal Visit and Millennium.  The empty space is the first one.

What I would like to know is, was there an error in the Dansco Album, or was there a "regular" 2000 issue.  I could look for myself, but my book is loaned out.

Any information would be appreciated.

G'day Gary.
There was no 50 cent x 2000 Coat of Arms coin minted.
You could fill on the space with a millenium 'incuse' variety or the coloured coin out of the 2000 proof set
Second one is not cheap.

 Cheesy

Dear Gary:
Congrtulations for completing the 50-Cents Set.   Collecting Date-wise Mint-wise is a difficult job.
Wish you all  MERRY CHRISTMAS
Sincerely
George/India

Thanks Muckeye and George.

I think Gregk had told me that some time back, but I wasn't certain.

What's strange is why Dansco had the spot labeled, and even had mintage numbers printed?!

Oh well, collection completed!

Hey Gary.....that is great work completeing the 50 cent set.   Did you get a millenium incuse coin?

Now you can finish the $1 set, there are many more of these to find.

Congratulations anyway

Smiley Well done Gary. The 16,630,000 is the mintage for the Millennium 50, as listed in the 13th edition The Australian coins and bank notes pocket guide.  The Royal visit 50 is listed at 5.1 million with 25,000 proofs.

G'day Gary,
Good news, an 'incuse' coin has been generously donated by 'gregk'
He is sending it to me and I will make up a small collection with some other 'bits of chaff' for on-forwarding.
Probably wont make it by Xmas, maybe new Year.
regards,
