Beutiful coins, Ellekitty.

Thanks for sharing.
I think you are going to have a lot fun getting all those coins of yours online.

You are both welcome.

It was the one in the standard presentation box, not the limited edition one for the SAS soldiers.

Some of you may remember me posting back on CCF , about going to Campbell Barracks in Perth for the release of the SAS $1 coin. That was in March. Well a couple of days ago I saw a similar coin on E-bay sell for $510. It only cost me $80. Not a bad return in just 7 months. I wonder what it will be worth in a couple of years.  Did anyone else buy one of these?
Here is the coin....

That would be fine, Gary. There is no hurry. Thank you.

I'm over 50 now and the eyes really dimming but " I'm not sure which mint it is. Can you tell me?" really looks like a 3.5 claw to me

Gregk. I have to confess I don't own a Macca's so I don't know how to tell the difference. I usually borrow it out of the Library when I need it.

Prior to 1956 all three mints were used for most years, then from 1956 to 1967 it was only Denver and Philadelphia. In 1967 San Francisco minted again for circulation, before minting proof coins only from 1969 on. Denver and Philadelphia carried on minting upto 2007.

This is a rough summary taken from the Red Book.

Hope it helps.

If you need any Lincoln cents let me know, I have a few spares.

Glad you liked them, Gary.

The 20 cent is a Surf Lifesaver coin, only available in Mint uncirculated set. Thus is NCLT.

I don't normally collect NCLT, so I bought the set to keep the 5c, 10c, 50c, and $1, because I got fed up waiting for them to be released.

I new I could find a good home at your place for the 20c and at Terry's place for the MOR.

Thanks again also, for the Kennedy halves.

I'm glad you liked that note.

It was one of my favourites too, but it was worth the sacrifice. Thanks for trading.

I have heard that there was increased demand for 20 cent pieces at this time, because of the Space Invaders craze. The games used 20 cent pieces, so the demand was high. A few years later the craze was over and they destroyed surplus stock of 20 cent pieces.

Nothing special about the 20 cent of this year, but look at the condition of this one I found in the till today.

It's almost uncirculated, just a few knocks on it.

Must have been stolen from someones collection.

Also found two 1982 Commonwealth Games 50 cent, in about the same condition.
Found also a 2001 A.C.T 20 cent, 2001 N.S.W. 50 cent and a 1987 N.Z. 20 cent.

I don't know Gregk, but Barry has helped me plenty with my Pre-Decimal coins and to a lesser degree with the Decimal coins.
