Thank you very much
So 1868 (68)  means there is a date 1868 and 68 on the stars and it is an original and the only restrikes are 1961 and 1962 Alfonso XII coins ?

Exactly! Wink

It seems to me that according to Krause starting with the 2 escudos 1868 (68) they put a date between brackets
also the 1865 is stated 175 $ uncirculated and the 1868 (68) 1500 $ uncirculated

Far down the page for a 10 peseta 1878(62) Krause states that the date between brackets is a  1962 restrike from original dies
for 85 $ uncirculated. On the internet I found that 19 should be in the left star next to the date and 62 in the right star next to the date
making it clear that 1878 is a restrike from 1962

My confusion is what does it mean when the date between brackets is the same like 1868(68) and why would a restrike if it is one be 8.5 times more
expensive then an original form 1865
Krause gives no strike numbers so I do not know that mintage is part of the answer

The information on the stars came either from Friedberg or Schlumberger

Well, 1868 was the year that Spain started to use the dates on the star system (silver and gold), before that was like everywhere else, none of the coins minted before had the date on the stars (which was easier now that the Seville - 7 pointed star - and Barcelona - 8 pointed star - had stopped minting coins).
I.E.: The (68) coins are not restrikes, but the (62) are restrikes (very obvious because they weren't dates on the stars before 1868...)

...and the only spanish restrikes are the Alfonso XII gold coins.

The (62) restrikes are common but (61) restrikes are quite scarce!

Let me know if i couldn't explain clearly.

I am trying to find out about Spanish coins

As not surprising KM is wrong again

Schlumberger 1988 and Friedberg 1976 seem to have more information

Does anyone have these goldcoin catalogues ?

I have the Friedberg, and might get some more info regarding Spanish gold coins, what do you need?

John, that's a yellow bronze jeton from Burgundy (Bourgogne), the F.9984 # refers to the "Feuardent" collection catalog.

Here's an old sale from CGB (the two last ones on F and VF respectivily- prices still in FRF), you'll find some more data in there:

The price is right, i've seen spanish dealers selling those "resellados" at 5 Euro a piece in bins.

Congrats ElleKitty!  Shocked

The Guiné coins were a very nice catch, the 10 cent. and the gem 5 cent. are great, the 20 cent. its still a "bin" coin.
The Guiné 5, 10 and 50 centavos are something one could look for, dealers will often mistake those Guiné coins for the Portugal and Cabo Verde issues. Wink

Those Danish coins are one of my favorites (got a 1876 20 Kr.) D., i had made a few deals with a coin store in Copenhagen who usually have a few DVI gold coins (20 Fr./4 Dal.), let me know if youre interested and i'll PM you their contacts.

Here's a link to Mr. Leung website that explains the story of this coin:

...and i even prefer the Bertolucci version to the "official" story about Pu Yi... Roll Eyes

I like the Helvetia series of 20CHF a bit better than the vrenellis.  I hope to buy some 1883 and 1886 dated coins very soon.

For me it's the other way around, but oddly enough i prefer the Helvetias on picture, but not in "person" Smiley

The 50 Lire finally showed up in the postbox, what a long wait.

Congratulations! Saw your post on CP, also had some issues with that seller a few months ago trying to buy a coin from him (two emails sent and no reply, made my business somewhere else...), maybe due to a temporary human resource problem caused by their first auction...
