OK I have had a small amount of time at home but I am unable to duplicate the lighting set up I had offshore without cooking my camera.
I have built a vertical light ring with 5x60 watt halogens if I add any more I get heat problems.
anyway here be the results..
I chose the fist coin on my desk as a subject...

Since the stockmarkets are crumbling I don't have time for 20 minutes of analyses
But could it be that your macro is focussing on the background ? The background should be more diffuse and the coin sharper
