31  Worldwide Coins & Bank Notes / U.S. Coins / Re: 2010 Lincoln Cents---Another Disappointment from the U.S. Mint! on: January 13, 2010, 09:45:15 AM
It would be nice to see the U.S. get away from dead presidents, shields, eagles, flags, etc.
Let's see what else you have.

I just bought 2006 gold plated Royal Visit 50 Cent pieces set of 50 cent pieces.  Some of the coins the RAM make are absolutely stunning. I will try and post a photograph as the coins are extraordinary in design and finish.  Mintage only 7,500.

Links don't work for some reason, so go here - http://www.ramint.gov.au/designs/ram-designs/

THe Fitzwilliam Museum is always worth a look.  It is updated regularly. You should check it out from time to time.  It contains magnificent examples of ancient coins and medals.  Art too! (If your into that sort of thing Wink)

34  Worldwide Coins & Bank Notes / Other World Coins / Re: Is my camera smarter than me you decide. on: October 30, 2009, 07:07:46 PM
Is it just me or do the pictures all take up more than one screen?  I have to scroll up and accross if I want to view the coin.  It makes it very difficult to judge.

If it is not me, can the pictures be made slightly smaller.  If it is, how do I view them properly?

2000   Die Fill "B"  (can't for the life of me recall where the 'B' is! Huh)

According to my database, my only errors on NZ 5 cents pieces are:
1996   Cud - Queen's Forehead
1999   Cud - Queens Nose
2000   Die Fill "B"  (can't for the life of me recall where the 'B' is! Huh)

WELL IT CAN'T BE THE IGUANA'S FAULT--THEY MOVE  RATHER SLOWLY--SO MAYBE YOU HAVE A RARE ONE--GOOD LUCK

         YOUR SERVANT---THE TEMPLAR

Actually it is a Tuatara, not an Iguana.  I once did a school project on them.  Fascinating creatures. Lineage dating back 200 million years.

Hey Templar and Nighthawk,
While you two were squabbling at the auction, I got this one from a bag of Australian 1 Cent pieces

Nice coins Nighthawk.
I still haven't forgotten the New Guinea penny that I promised you. I simply have not had time to visit my off-site storage.  It'll happen one day.  Grin

I found an Uncirculated 1998 Howard Florey "c" mintmark $1 in the chocolate box.  It is a beautiful coin that stood out like the proverbial.  There are two benefits to this find (a) I have a nice shiney NCLT coin, and (b) I didn't buy a chocolate which keeps my sugar level down for just that little bit longer.   Grin
44  Worldwide Coins & Bank Notes / Australian Coins / Re: Gold - The Quartermaster Collection on: June 07, 2009, 04:39:35 PM
I don't know who or how the Quartermaster collection was graded.  Al I know is is that it is supposed to be one of the finest collections around.  I believe you can look at the provenance of the coins online which may give some indication.

I'd be happy to own any  Grin
