I'll be looking for the cents at a coin show locally this weekend.

I'll be in Grand Junction tomorrow, Friday, and next Tuesday.  The sad part is that my coin store is no more.

Grand Junction has about 100.000 residents if you go to Palisade at the east end, and Fruita to the west.

Now wouldn't you think a city of 100,000 would have a coin shop?  Delta has about 5,000 residents, and no coin shop.  Up the road 20 miles is Montrose with about 16,000 people.  Can't find a coin shop there.

Looks like I'm just going to have to go to the likes of Coast to Coast and get my coins by mail order.

From my perspective it would seem Grand Junction NEEDS a local coin collector to START a coin shop. Someone with numismatic knowledge and world connections? Maybe someone who is semi-retired or going to retire? Drag Mommy into the mix and a business is born?

Actually I think the U.S. Mint is making a huge effort to put the screws to all those Ebayers who are pre-selling the 2009 Lincoln cents. Many of them were getting $20 to $40 a roll for them. What in the world are people thinking? Doesn't appear to be any economy problems with the fools on Ebay!  None the less, those who were getting those prices, now do NOT have the coins to deliver so sooner or later Ebay MUST act on these stupid pre-sale auctions.
Anyway LET me know if any of you stumble onto a few extra rolls.

I've often thought I would love to own a coin store.

However, my previous store went out of biz due to the economy.

This semi-retired teacher doesn't have the tens of thousands needed for inventory, let alone funds for a building and insurance.

Nice thought though.  If I was in my 20s again, and was more adventurous, I might try it.

Meanwhile I'm still looking for a store.  Was in Grand Junction today and searched around for one, with no luck.  The yellow pages also haven't been helpful.

I have e-mailed the former coin store owner and asked her if other shops exist in the area, and she should respond soon.
