For pennies dated after 1938:

London, England - "PL" mint-mark
Bombay, India - "I" mint-mark
Perth Mint - "."  between the "K" and the "G"
Perth Mint - "." after the letter "Y" of the word "PENNY"
Perth Mint - "." after the last "A" of "AUSTRALIA"
Melbourne - no mint-mark

So look for either a "PL", "I", "K.G", "Y." or an "A." mint-mark!

There does not appear to be a dot after the Y in PENNY so I would say it is a Melbourne mint coin.

I agree with humpybong, it does appear to be a Melbourne mint coin!

I thought it might be nice to start a "Buy of the Week" thread here.
And once I can figure out how on earth to post photo's, I'm going to brag about my new coins!
Does anyone else have a photo they would like to post and boast about?

Hi AdamL,

The first thing I saw was an "S", but the more I stared at it, the more confusing it became!
It is possible it's a "D", but my honest opinion would have to be "S".     Smiley Smiley Smiley  Smiley Smiley
